- I'd like people to remember me for a diligent expert workman. I think a poet is a workman. I think Shakespeare was a workman. And God's a workman. I don't think there's anything better than a workman. I've appeared in over 60 films and in more than 120 stage roles---People seem to like my acting; I've won and been nominated Academy Awards, Emmy Awards, Golden Globes, New York Film Critics Awards, National Board of Review Awards, British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards, and the Order of Merit. Also, I was knighted in 1947 and made a baron in 1970. But just call me Larry.
